Born in Anchorage
Shane was born July 10 and grew up in Palmer, where family, church, and Alaska’s wilderness formed the center of his life.
A devoted son and brother, a faithful friend, an Alaskan outdoorsman, and a soldier who gave his life in service to his country.
Shane William Woods was born in Anchorage and raised in Palmer by his parents, Wayne and Mae, alongside his sister, Stephanie. Alaska’s mountains were his classroom and refuge: he hunted, fished, hiked, photographed the landscape, and found joy in sharing the outdoors with others.
His Christian faith shaped the way he lived. Friends and family remember his humility, humor, poetry, generosity, and steady belief that his life should be used in service to others.
